Pay Fines With Food During National Library Week

During National Library Week, April 8-14, the library will accept donations of non-perishable food items in payment for overdue fines.  All donated food items go to the Doorways community food pantry.

Each can or package of a non-perishable food is worth one dollar that you can use towards paying your fines.

You may only use your food donations only to pay overdue fines. Food donations may not be applied to fees for lost or damaged materials, nor any other library fees.

To be acceptable, a food item must be (1) in undamaged cans or packages, and (2) not be past the product’s sell-by date.

The library will not return currency or provide credit for overpayment in food donations.  If you use four cans to pay a $3.50 fine, for example, you will not be getting 50 cents back.
