"It's a jungle in here!"
Summer Reading is for all ages, birth through adult with reading incentives for all! See seekonkpl.org for more details!
Why Summer Reading??
1. Because it's fun!
2. Students who read over the summer months are better prepared for school success in the fall.
3. Because studies have shown that students who don't read during the summer actually lose the reading abilities they worked so hard to acquire during the year.
4. Did we mention "because it's fun"??
“Wild Reads at your Library”, the 2008 Statewide Reading
Program, is funded by Seekonk Public Library, the Massachusetts Regional
Library Systems, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
Special Programs
Seekonk Safari Camp!!! In addition to our online Summer
Reading Program, children are invited to explore Seekonk Safari Camp, all online!
Using the internet, “travel” to a different wild destination each week and discover fun online activities, links to interesting websites and wild reading lists.
Registration isn’t required for camp– just log on to seekonkpl.org and follow the links.
Seekonk Safari Camp starts on Monday, July 7 with destinations posted each Monday.
Exciting News!
After years of anticipation, the landfill behind the Library will be capped starting this summer! The capping of the landfill is the first step in realizing the dream of building a park and recreational area for the community to enjoy. Unfortunately, due to issues surrounding the work involved, we are unable to offer Summer Family Nights as we usually do. However, we look forward to resuming Family Nights soon.
Visit seekonkpl.org for updates of the landfill capping project.

Summertime is a great time for Tumblebooks!
Our online collection of animated, talking books is a fun way to
supplement summer reading. Emergent readers can have a book read to them or independent readers can read books on their own. Access the TumbleBooks collection at seekonkpl.org and look for the TumbleBooks icon on the Children’s page! And remember that time spent using Tumblebooks can be logged as part of your Summer Reading totals!!
Accelerated Reader List reminder...
Looking for the next A.R. book to read? Remember that Aitken and Martin School’s Accelerated Reader Lists are always available on-line at Seekonkpl.org (see link on the homepage). Using the Library’s on-line catalog, titles can be reserved and
then picked up at the Library.
If patrons have a special physical or communication need that may affect their participation in Seekonk Library services or activities, they should contact the Library staff to discuss accomodations. Seekonk Library cannot ensure the availability or appropriate accomodations without prior notification of need.
