The Board of Library Trustees of the Seekonk Public Library welcomes the use of the Library’s meeting rooms free of charge by local community groups and individual town residents for civic, educational, philanthropic, and recreational purposes having a substantial nexus with the mission of the Seekonk Public Library. The Board of Library Trustees is solely responsible for determining if the use of the meeting rooms proposed by an applicant satisfies the above criteria. (Meeting Room Policy)
The Multipurpose Room is the one room available for public use at the library. It has a maximum capacity of one hundred people seated in chairs or about fifty people seated at tables. The room is equipped with a digital projector and a public address system. A request to use of this equipment must be made when applying to use the room.
All persons or groups wishing to reserve the meeting room must submit a meeting room application. Businesses, minors, and non-residents of Seekonk may not reserve the Multipurpose Room. Applicants who have not filed a request within the last two years, must submit a new request. Applications are available at the library or may be downloaded using the links below. The Board of Library Trustees must approve first-time requests to use the room. The Board generally meets on the third Wednesday of every month. The availability of the Multipurpose Room is limited because the library also uses it for library programming. Those wishing to use the meeting room should submit their requests as soon as possible. First time applicants should allow 45 days for processing and approval of the application.
The Multipurpose Room is high demand so the library imposes some limits on reservations. The library does not accept requests for dates more than three months from the application date. The library allows only one reservation per week (Monday to Saturday). A group may not reserve the room for more than six consecutive weeks without the permission of the Library Director. Other restriction may apply depending on the availability of the room and the nature of the request.
