November News for Tweens & Teens

This month, we have the opportunity to learn hand sewing techniques to create a hand-made zip-up pouch! This is a two-session workshop led by local artist and sewing instructor Leslie Guglielmo, so make sure you are available for both dates--November 12 and 19. Our Make Your Mark whiteboards are still going strong, and this month we have a new opportunity for tweens and teens in grades 6 through 12 to share your thoughts. Right next to the self checkout machines, you'll find the Rec Rack, a display shelf that needs your input! Just grab your book recommendation from its normal place on the shelf and place it on the display rack. If you want to leave a review for your selection, you can fill out a reaction slip and leave it in the book!

The library is closed on Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Upcoming Teen Programs

Hand-Stitched Zipper Pouch Sewing Workshop

Thursdays, November 12 & 19, 2026
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Local artist and certified sewing instructor Leslie Guglielmo will lead this 2-session workshop, teaching basic stitch techniques to assemble a useful, personalized zipper pouch. Participants will learn and master three distinct stitch styles--running (including basting), backstitch, and overcasting--to finish their seams and apply the zipper. They will have the opportunity to further embellish their pouches with personalized zipper pulls and sashiko patches. This class will include personalized instructions for each student to achieve fine stitching techniques with the opportunity to take home practice materials. No sewing experience is necessary and all materials will be provided. Participants are required to attend both sessions.

Teen Advisory Board

Your opinion matters! If you’re in grade 6 through 12, then you have a chance to make a difference at your library by joining the Teen Advisory Board (TAB). During the school year, we will meet once a month at 3:30 PM to share ideas about upcoming programs and discuss how we can make the most out of the library’s services for tweens and teens.

Coming in December - Register now!

Breakerspace for Tweens & Teens

Thursdays, December 10, 2026
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Sometimes destruction is its own reward. This breakerspace with local IT expert Peter Ferlazzo is your chance to take apart and explore the inner workings of everday technology--digital cameras, desk fans, small kitchen appliances, and more--without having to figure out how to put them back together! You will be presented with a variety of electronic and mechanical items and the tools necessary to dismantle them, and Peter will provide advice and insight as you figure out what makes these gagdets tick (or spin, beep, whirr, etc.). Snacks will be provided.
