October News for Tweens & Teens
Our Teen programs this month probably couldn't be any more different from each other--Videogame Coding and Improv Acting! Sign up for one or both, and be sure to check out the Teen section of the library whenever you stop in. Our Make Your Mark whiteboards are still going strong, and this month we have a new opportunity for tweens and teens in grades 6 through 12 to share your thoughts. Right next to the self checkout machines, you'll find the Rec Rack, a display shelf that needs your input! Just grab your book recommendation from its normal place on the shelf and place it on the display rack. If you want to leave a review for your selection, you can fill out a reaction slip and leave it in the book!
The library is closed on Monday, October 12th in observance of Columbus Day.

Micro:bit Video Game Coding for Beginners

Local IT expert Peter Ferlazzo is back to teach you how to code basic videogames using the free online platform MakeCode. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to play your games using one of the library’s Elecfreaks microbit Retro Makecode Arcades! No coding experience is necessary and all materials will be provided during the program.
Improv Workshop for Tweens & Teens

Back by popular demand! Experience the fun of improvisational acting in this two-hour workshop. Deej Shafer of Kismet Improv will go over the basics of improv, then he’ll lead the group in some games and short scenes. No acting experience needed!
Teen Advisory Board

Your opinion matters! If you’re in grade 6 through 12, then you have a chance to make a difference at your library by joining the Teen Advisory Board (TAB). During the school year, we will meet once a month at 3:30 PM to share ideas about upcoming programs and discuss how we can make the most out of the library’s services for tweens and teens.
